Women's Tennis Suffers Road Loss At UNLV, 4-1

The San Diego State women's tennis team traveled to Sin City for its final match of the regular season on Saturday. The Aztecs were unable to keep pace with the Rebels, falling, 4-1. SDSU ends the dual-match season at 6-16 on the season and 0-4 and Mountain West play.

In doubles play, Tami Nguyen and Kennedy Davis gave San Diego State the advantage as the duo downed Iren Kotseva and Paola Artiga in the third spot, 6-3. No. 74 Carol Yang and Aiwen Zhu defeated Taylor Lederman and Isabelle Hoorn in the top position to even the playing field, 6-2. The point would be decided on court No. 2, which proved to be a closely contested match. Anna Bogoslavets and Cristina Moroi edged Jana Buth and Paola Diaz de Regules to clinch the point for UNLV, 7-6.

With a one-point advantage in hand, the Rebels turned their sights to singles action. In the second spot, No. 102 Yang defeated Buth, 6-0, 6-1, for UNLV's second point. In the top position, Nguyen put the Aztecs on the board by downing Zhu, 6-4, 6-1. On court No. 6, Moroi got past Lederman, 6-2, 6-4. In the third spot, Bogoslavets defeated Davis to secure the win for the Rebels, 6-1, 6-4.

With the regular season now completed, SDSU will prepare for the Mountain West Championships. Competition at the league tournament will begin on April 28 in Fort Collins, Colo.
