LUBBOCK, Texas - San Diego State recorded nine hits on the day, but was unable to translate those into runs as it dropped a 3-1 decision at No. 10 Texas Tech Friday afternoon.

The loss ended a three-game winning streak for the Aztecs, who saw their record drop to 10-21. Texas Tech, meanwhile, won for the seventh straight time to improve to 27-9.

SDSU got on the board first with a run in the top of the fifth. Hunter Stratton singled to open the frame and advanced to second on a ground out by Justin Wylie before moving to third on Chase Calabuig's fly ball to center. Stratton then scored on Alan Trejo's RBI single to center to give the Aztecs the 1-0 advantage.

That lead was short-lived, however, as the Red Raiders responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning against Aztec starter Harrison Pyatt. A two-out two-run single by Stephen Smith made it a 2-1 contest in favor of the home team.

Texas Tech added its third run one inning latter on a double by Eric Gutierrez and two-out single by Michael Davis. That would be the extent of the scoring in the contest as relievers for both teams kept the offenses in check over the final three frames.

Pyatt, who went 5.2 innings allowing the three runs on five hits with three walks and three strikeouts, was charged with the loss to fall to 0-3 on the year. Junior lefty Jacob Erickson tossed the final 2.1 frames of scoreless ball.

Texas Tech starter Davis Martin (5-0) would be credited with the victory after tossing the first six innings and surrendering a run on nine hits with no walks and one strikeouts. Hayden Howard would go the final three frames and retire all nine batters he faced to record his fifth save.

Trejo (two singles) and Tyler Adkison (single, double) would finish the contest with two hits apiece for the Aztecs.

San Diego state and Texas Tech will continue their three-game weekend series on Saturday, April 16, with a game scheduled to get underway at noon in Lubbock.
