Women's Tennis Dropped By No. 39 Fresno State

The San Diego State women's tennis team stumbled on Sunday at 39th-ranked Fresno State. The Aztecs were unable to knock off the Bulldogs, ultimately falling by a 7-0 score. SDSU falls to 6-14 on the season with two more outings left on the schedule before post-season play.

In doubles action, Kennedy Davis and Paola Diaz de Regules came out of the gate with fight as the Aztec duo downed Sofya Malusheva and Olivia Noble, 6-2, in the third spot. In the second position, Anneka Watts and Sophie Watss defeated Taylor Lederman and Tami Nugyen, 6-1. The point would come down to the top spot where No. 21 Mayar Sherif Ahmed and Rana Sherif Ahmed topped Jana Buth and Isabelle Hoorn, 6-2.

With the doubles point in hand, the Bulldogs did not let up and kept their foot on the gas pedal. In third singles, Diaz fell to Rana Sherif Ahmed, 6-0, 6-0. In the second spot, Sophie Watts gave Fresno State its third point as she got past Nguyen, 6-1, 6-2. In the sixth position, Anneka Watts clinched the decision for the Bulldogs as she topped Lederman, 6-3, 6-1. On court No. 1, 52nd-ranked Mayar Sherif Ahmed defeated Buth, 6-2, 6-0. In the fourth spot, Galina Bykova and Davis staged a duel with the Bulldog ultimately taking the point, 6-2, 2-6, 10-3. The final point would also be hotly contested with Malysheva coming out on top over Hoorn, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.

San Diego State will return home to host San Diego on April 20 at Aztec Tennis Center with first serve set for 2 p.m.
