SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The San Diego State baseball team will begin a three-game Mountain West series this evening when the UNLV Rebels visit Tony Gwynn Stadium for a contest scheduled to get underway at 6:00 p.m. (PT).

UNLV enters the series with a record of 11-17 overall and 4-8 in conference play. They begin the weekend sitting in fifth place in the league standings.

The Rebels are led offensively by left fielder Payton Squier (.369, 6 doubles, 13 RBI) and third baseman Kyle Isbel (.321, 6 doubles, 11 RBI).

The visitors are expected to start junior right-hander D.J. Myers (2-1, 4.69) on the mound where he has recorded 40 strikeouts in 40.1 innings pitched.

San Diego State, meanwhile, will start redshirt freshman Harrison Pyatt. The right-hander comes into the game with a record of 0-2 and a 3.44 earned run average.

The Aztecs' offense has been paced by Alan Trejo, whose .324 batting average and 17 RBI both lead the squad. Center fielder David Hensley is hitting at a 3.20 clip and is in the midst of a 10game hitting streak.

SDSU will be looking to build on the momentum of ite 6-5 12-inning win over No.20 Long Beach state on Tuesday. In that game Tyler Adkison's triple and Andrew Brown's RBI single provided the margin of victory.

The Aztecs and Rebels will continue their series with a contest on Saturday, April 9, at 2:00 p.m. at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
