Junior Erica Romero (Corona, Calif.) tossed a four-hit shutout and sophomore Jenavee Peres (Garden Grove, Calif.) hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead San Diego State to a 2-0 win over Boston University Tuesday night at SDSU Softball Stadium.

Romero (7-2) had a no-hitter through 4 2/3 innings and finished the game allowing just five baserunners on four hits (three singles) and a walk. The right-hander struck out three as only two Aztec (12-7) outfielders recorded a putout in the game.

In a game that featured just seven combined hits and three walks, SDSU had the first good chance to score in the bottom of the third inning as senior Stefania Aradillas (Mexico City) led off with a walk and moved to third on back-to-back sacrifice bunts by senior Leia Ruiz (Chino, Calif.) and junior Jaylene Ignacio (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino HS). Senior Samantha Camello (Temecula, Calif.) drew a four-pitch walk and sophomore Zaria Meshack (Vallejo, Calif.) followed with the first hit of the game, a bunt single, to load the bases for Peres. Peres, the 2015 Mountain West Freshman of the Year and a 2015 second-team NFCA All-West Region selection, however, struck out swinging to end the threat.

Romero had her no-hitter broken up with two outs in the fifth as Lauren Hynes singled through the left side.

In the sixth, Emily Morrow led off with a single to left field and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. BU leadoff hitter Moriah Connolly then chopped a double down the left-field line where San Diego State redshirt freshman Katie Byrd (Santee, Calif./West Hills HS) picked it up and fired a throw to Peres at the plate to tag pinch-runner Rachel Levine. Peres then threw to freshman Molly Sturdivant (Santa Ana, Calif.) at third base to get an aggressive Connolly and complete the double play.

Camello led off the sixth with a hard shot to the right-center gap, which Boston right fielder Emma Wong was unable to field cleanly and charged with an error. Peres, who struck out twice in the game earlier for just the second and third time all season, then took a 0-1 pitch over the center-field fence for her team-leading fifth home run of the year.

Romero allowed Wong to lead off the seventh with a single before Aztec head coach Kathy Van Wyk came out to talk to the infield. Romero responded by getting the Terrier 3-4-5 hitters out via flyout, strikeout and groundout - all on changeups - to secure the SDSU victory.

Sturdivant joined Meshack and Peres with San Diego State's hits, while Aradillas and Camello each reached on a walk.

Hynes scattered two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks over six innings for BU, while striking out four.

The Aztecs head to the Fresno State Classic this weekend, beginning with CSU Bakersfield (9:30 a.m. PST) and Weber State (noon PST) on Friday.
