SDSU Track & Field Splits Squads at Stanford and UC San Diego Meets This Weekend
Coming off a successful outing at the 38th annual Aztec Invitational, the San Diego State track and field team splits squads this weekend with some athletes heading to the Stanford Invitational on Friday and Saturday, and the rest of the team slated to compete at the California Collegiate Invitational at nearby UC San Diego in La Jolla, Calif.

Eighteen Aztecs are currently entered at the Stanford Invite, led by the reigning Mountain West Women's Track and Field Outdoor Athlete of the Week winner Ashley Henderson. Henderson, who won the open 100, invitational 100, invitational 200 and a leg on the winning invitational 4x100 relay, will run the 100 and 200 this weekend, and could run a leg in either the 4x100 or 4x400 as well.

Micha Auzenne, who won both the 60 and 60-meter hurdles at the MW Indoor Championships, will be making her individual outdoor debut in both the 100 and 100 hurdles.

Others specifically entered in track events include Sierra Brabham-Lawrence (100H, 400H), Jazmen Bunch (100, 200), Madison Gipson (100H, 400H), Simone Glenn (200, 400), Ellison Grove (800), Lakin Hatcher (200, 400), Tyra Lea (200, 400) and Courtney Robinson (100H, 400H).

In the field events, Rachel Alesi is slated to compete in the shot put and invitational discus throw, Je'Neal Ainsworth in the invitational triple jump, Lisa-Anne Barrow in the long jump, Alexa Evans in the shot put and invitational discus throw, and Jelena McNown in the long jump.

Multi-event specialists Kassidy Ellis (100H, high jump, long jump) and Karsen Sper (100H, high jump) will also be competing in multiple events, while Starlynn Singleton is entered in the 100 and triple jump.

Friday gets underway with the collegiate shot put at 11 a.m. PT, while the track events start at 11:27 a.m. PT with the prelims of the 100 hurdles for SDSU. The first day ends at 5 p.m. PT with the final of the 100.

On Saturday, the Aztecs' first event will be the 4x100 at 1:02 p.m. (discus invitational at 3 p.m. PT for the field events) and ends with the 4x400 at 5 p.m. PT.

The rest of the team is expected to compete at UCSD.

The hammer throw starts the meet at 10 a.m. PT with the running events beginning at 12:20 p.m. PT.
