W. Tennis Drops Decision To No. 19 Arizona State

The San Diego State women's tennis team hit the road for the first time in the month of March and found that the confines of home are much friendlier. The Aztecs dropped at 7-0 decision to 19th-ranked Arizona State on Saturday. SDSU falls to 6-11 on the season with the loss.

The Sun Devils took an early lead on Saturday by claiming the doubles point. Kassidy Jump and Sammi Hampton topped Kennedy Davis and Paola Diaz de Regules in third doubles, 6-3. In the second spot, Desaire Krawcyzk and Stephanie Vlad defeated Tami Nguyen and Taylor Lederman, 6-3, to secure the point. The match in the top spot was left unfinished.

In singles play No. 24 Krawczyk got past Jana Buth, 6-0, 6-2, to give ASU its second point. In the fifth position, Hampton topped Isabelle Hoorn, 6-2, 6-2. On court No. 4, Vlad defeated Davis to clinch the victory for Arizona State, 6-4, 6-1. In the sixth spot, Gussie O'Sullivan defeated Lederman, 6-1, 7-5. Court No. 2 saw 66th-ranked Jump and Nguyen battle for their point with the Sun Devil coming out on top, 7-5, 4-6, 11-9. The final point of the day came in the third spot as Ebony Panoho and Diaz went back and forth before the ASU senior walked away with the win, 6-4, 6-7, 10-8.

San Diego State will return home to open conference play on April 1. SDSU will take on Nevada with first serve set for 10m a.m. at Aztec Tennis Center.
