SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The San Diego State rowing team completed a weekend full of racing on Sunday morning with another successful outing. The Aztecs topped Alabama in the varsity eight race, finishing ahead of the Crimson Tide with a five second margin.
The first race of the day came at 8:20 a.m. in the varsity eight matchup. SDSU claimed the victory with a time of 6 minutes, 22.1 seconds. Alabama trailed and posted a time of 6:27.3. The win was the third of the weekend for the San Diego State varsity eight crew, completing the weekend sweep.
At 8:40 a.m. the second varsity eight crews took to the water. The Aztec third varsity eight joined the race as well. The Crimson Tide finished first with a time of 6:31.4 followed behind the SDSU `A' crew (6:42.0) and the SDSU `B' boat (6:50.2).
The final race of the weekend came at 9 a.m. with the varsity four event. Alabama narrowly edged San Diego State in the last race. Alabama posted a time of 7:19.3 while SDSU clocked a time of 7:20.2.
The Aztecs will next see action on April 2-3 when they compete at the San Diego Crew Classic on Mission Bay.
