The San Diego State women's tennis team saw their win streak halted at two-straight when it fell short to 44th-ranked Dartmouth on Saturday. The Aztecs fell behind early by dropping the doubles point but staged a late rally in singles play. SDSU could only notch three points, one shy of victory. With the stumble, the Aztecs fall to 5-10 on the season.
In doubles competition, Katherine Yau and Julia Schroeder topped Kennedy Davis and Paola Diaz de Regules in the second spot, 6-1. Jacqueline Crawford and Lexxi Kiven defeated Tami Nguyen and Taylor Lederman in the third position to claim the point, 6-3. In the top spot, the 14th-ranked duo of Taylor Ng and Kristina Mathis topped Jana Buth and Isabelle Hoorn, 6-2.
In singles play, Ng gave the Big Green their second point by defeating Buth, 6-3, 6-4, on the first court. In the third position, Mathis got past Davis, 7-5, 6-4. On court No. 2, Nguyen battled Yau and took her match to three sets but ultimately fell short, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. The remaining Aztecs continued to fight with Hoorn downing Schroeder in the fifth spot, 6-4, 0-6, 6-2. Lederman finished off Allison Chuang in the sixth position, 7-6 (6), 6-3. The final match and final point for SDSU came on court No. 6 as Diaz downed Crawford, 6-3, 6-7 (6), 10-7.
San Diego State will face Cal Poly on March 22 for its final home match of the month. First serve is set for 2 p.m. at Aztec Tennis Center.
