WHAT'S ON TAP THIS WEEKEND IN AZTEC BASEBALL
San Diego State will resume Mountain West action as it travels to Colorado Springs, Colo., for a three-game conference series at Air Force. That set gets underway on Friday, March 18, with a contest scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. (MT) at Falcon Field. The Aztecs and Falcons will also hook up for games on Saturday (March 19) and Sunday (March 20) at 1:00 p.m. (MT) each day.

SERIES RECORD
San Diego State's all-time record against Air Force stands at 100-21 since the teams first met in 1961. The Falcons are one of three teams against which SDSU has recorded 100 wins. The other two are New Mexico (108) and Utah (102). The Aztecs have won the last 53 of the last 58 meetings between the teams including five regular-season contests and one game at the conference tournament last season. The Aztecs are 54-8 vs. the Falcons in San Diego and 39-13 at Air Force's home field. The Aztecs have won all seven meetings at neutral sites.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Shortstop Alan Trejo has earned the Mountain West Baseball Player of the Week award for games played through Sunday, March 13, 2016. It is the first MW weekly accolade for Trejo, a sophomore from Downey, Calif. (Warren HS). He led San Diego State to a 2-1 week in a home series against Big Ten foe Northwestern. Over the three contests he posted a batting average of .600 (9-for-15) with six runs scored, five runs batted in and one stolen base. Trejo had at least two hits and two runs scored in in all three games with a .625 on-base percentage and a .600 slugging percentage. Defensively, Trejo recorded seven putouts and 12 assists with no errors. He was also named the Madness Mountain West Player of the week by College Sports Madness.

NEVAREZ ON A ROLL
Freshman Dean Nevarez continues to excel in the designated hitter role for the Aztecs. He had a seven-game hitting streak stopped on Tuesday at Cal State Fullerton during which he went 12-for-30 (.360) with two doubles, a triple, home run, eight RBI and five runs scored. Nevarez has scored a run in five of the past six contests. In last weekend's series vs. Northwestern he hit .400 (6-for-15) with six RBI. He has made nine starts, all as the designated hitter.

ADKISON HITS AWAY
Sophomore Tyler Adkison hit safely in all three games last weekend with two starts and an appearance off the bench in right field. Over the weekend he went 5-for-8 (.625) three RBI and six runs scored (two in each game). He also hit his first home run of the year and recorded a double.

TREJO STREAKING
Shortstop Alan Trejo is on a 12-game hitting streak during which he is batting .434 (23-for-53) with two doubles, nine RBI and 10 runs scored. He has been in double figures in hits in seven of SDSU's last nine contests. He leads the Aztecs with 27 hits on the season. No other player has as many as 19. The only contest in which he did not record a hit this season was on Feb. 23 at UC Irvine. In addition to starting every game at shortstop, Trejo has also made two relief appearances on the mound.

WYLIE GOES DEEP
Second baseman Justin Wylie hit a leadoff home run in the contest at Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday to give SDSU an early 1-0 lead. It was his team-leading second homer of the season Wylie leads the Aztecs with 14 RBI this season. He recorded the game-winning RBI in each of SDSU's first two wins. Wylie has hit safely in eight of SDSU's last nine games and has recorded nine RBI in the last five contests.

PYATT DEBUTS
Redshirt freshman Harrison Pyatt turned in his third straight impressive start of the season vs. Northwestern last Thursday (March 10) on March 1. In that contest he tossed 6.2 innings allowing a run on a seven hits with a walk and six strikeouts. In his previous start vs. San Diego, he went six innings giving up no runs on one hit with three walks and seven strikeouts. Pyatt made his Aztec debut with the start at UC Irvine on Tuesday, Feb. 23. He pitched five innings allowing one run on just three hits while striking out four. In his three starts, he has a 1.02 earned run average (17.2 IP) while in his two relief stints his ERA is 18.00 (1 IP). Pyatt has struck out 18 in 18.2 innings and opponents are hitting.203 against him.

AZTEC NOTES
As a team, the Aztecs hit .358 during the three-game series vs. Northwestern last weekend to boost the team batting average from .254 to .276 … After hitting just one triple over the first 13 games (by catcher Hunter Stratton vs. Bryant on Feb. 26), the Aztecs hit two (Dean Nevarez and Justin Wylie) on March 11 vs. Northwestern … David Hensley went 5-for-10 over the three games vs. Northwestern and scored a run in each of those contests … Freshman infielder Jordan Verdon has hit safely in each of the last seven contests, going 9-for-21 (.429) with a triple, two RBI and four runs scored … Freshman right-hander Chris Collins has made five relief appearances out of the bullpen and allowed one earned run over 6.1 innings pitched for a 1.42 earned run average … Shortstop Alan Trejo and center fielder Chase Calabuig are the only two players to have started all 16 games this season at the same position … One other Aztec has started all 16 games, but not at the same position each time: Justin Wylie (2B-DH).
