FRESNO, Calif. -
Sophomore Zaria Meshack (Vallejo, Calif.) scored on a two-out, pinch-hit single by junior Sydnee Cable (Huntington Beach, Calif.) in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the San Diego State softball team a 2-1 win over CSU Bakersfield at the Fresno State Classic Friday in Fresno, Calif. The second game of the Aztecs' (13-7) Friday slate vs. Weber State was rained out.
Tied at 1-1, Meshack reached on a leadoff bunt and moved to third on consecutive groundouts by seniors Samantha Camello (Temecula, Calif.) and Leia Ruiz (Chino, Calif.). After a four-pitch walk to sophomore Jenavee Peres (Garden Grove, Calif.), Cable singled through the right side for the game-winning score.
The Road Runners (4-12) got on the scoreboard in the top of the third inning on a bases loaded walk by Selena Gonzalez.
