COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- San Diego State's Emma Henrikson (Malmö, Sweden) has been named Mountain West Women's Golfer of the Week for two superb performances in tournaments played from Feb. 21-March 1, as announced Wednesday by the league office. With her award, the Aztec senior collected the fourth conference weekly/monthly honor of her career and second this season.

Henrikson was SDSU's No. 1 finisher in the team's first two events of the spring campaign, averaging 71.00 strokes in six rounds to go with a pair of top-three placements.

A three-time all-Mountain West selection, Henrikson opened the semester in compelling fashion at the Westbrook Spring Invitational, held Feb. 21-22 in Peoria, Ariz., capturing her third collegiate victory after firing a combined 5-under par 211.

Henrikson was the lone golfer in the 86-player field to complete two rounds in the 60s during the tournament, including a 69 over the final 18 holes. Sitting in a tie for seventh place after the first day of competition, the native Swede vaulted into a share of the lead with the help of five birdies during the final round, including a crucial conversion on her penultimate green en route to claiming co-medalist honors.

Henrikson followed that effort with a solo third-place finish earlier this week at the Bruin Wave Invitational in San Luis Obispo, Calif., where she led the Aztecs to their fourth top-five team placement of the 2015-16 campaign.

Henrikson was one of only three players among 82 participants to complete the event with a collective score below par after logging a 1-under 215. She led the tournament with 13 birdies for the week and carded the lowest score of the second round with a spring-best 68. Henrikson finished strong with four birdies and eight pars over her last 12 holes of the final round to jump two places on the leaderboard.

For the season, Henrikson leads the Mountain West with a team-best 70.89 scoring average and has climbed to fourth nationally in the latest Golfstat Cup standings.

The 20th-ranked Aztecs will return to action in three weeks when they conduct their lone home event of the year, the SDSU March Mayhem match-play tournament, March 21-23, at The Farms Golf Club, in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
