SAN DIEGO - San Diego State women's soccer head coach Mike Friesen today announced his team's Spring 2016 schedule. The Aztecs will play six Division I teams from southern California on five different home dates atop SDSU Sports Deck. Admission is free.
The Scarlet and Black will play host to cross-town foe USD and CSUN on Saturday, March 5. The Aztecs and Toreros will play at 11:15 a.m. PT before the Matadors pay San Diego State a visit at 12:30 p.m. PT.
On Friday, March 11, the Aztecs and Long Beach State will play under the SDSU Sports Deck lights at 7 p.m. PT. The 49ers reached the NCAA tournament a season ago and finished the season 12-7-3. San Diego State will then pause its training for spring break.
Once school resumes, the Aztecs will resume its slate and welcome UC Riverside to Montezuma Mesa on Saturday, April 9, at 7 p.m. PT. Six days later on Friday, April 15, UC San Diego will make the short drive southeast for yet another 7 p.m. PT contest. The SDSU alumni game will take place at 7 p.m. PT on Saturday, April 16.
The Aztecs will finish the spring against USC on Saturday, April 23, at 7 p.m. PT. The Trojans advanced to the third round of the 2015 NCAA tournament before finishing 15-6-2.
SDSU has won the last four Mountain West regular-season championships and three of the last four MW tournament titles. In Fall 2016, the Aztecs are scheduled to return 40 of their 41 goals from a season ago (97.6 percent), 33 of their 35 assists (94.3 percent) and 113 of their 117 points (96.6 percent).
