PEORIA, Ariz. - San Diego State's Emma Henrikson (Malmö, Sweden) shot a combined 2-under par 142 on Sunday to lead the 16th-ranked Aztec women's golf team during the first two rounds of the Westbrook Spring Invitational at Westbrook Village Golf Club. With her total, the SDSU senior sits in a four-way tie for seventh place on the individual leaderboard heading into Monday's final round on the par-72, 6,269-yard Vistas Course.

As a team, the Aztecs finds themselves in a tie for sixth place with SMU at 6-over 582 after carding rounds of 286 and 296. Oregon (-9) vaulted to the top of the standings at the end of 36 holes, grabbing a six-shot lead over both Kansas State (-3) and UNLV (-3), while Ohio State occupies the fourth spot (-1), followed closely by Notre Dame (E).

Ranked fourth in the latest Golfstat Cup standings, Henrikson completed the opening round just one shot off the lead in second place after carding a 69, offsetting two bogeys with five birdies, including four on the back nine. The native Swede was unable to sustain the momentum in the afternoon, however, tumbling into the seventh position on the heels of a second-round 73, featuring 17 pars and one bogey. Despite the slip, Henrikson remains just three shots off the pace on a crowded leaderboard.

Caroline Inglis of Oregon shot a collective 5-under 139 to forge a slim one-shot advantage over the trio of Kansas State's Katherine Gravel-Coursol and Connie Jaffery and Kaylee Benton of UNLV, while Ohio State's Jessica Porvasnik and Talia Campbell of Notre Dame are knotted in the fifth slot at 3-under 141.

Elsewhere, SDSU's Mila Chaves (Asuncion, Paraguay) sits one shot in back of Henrikson in an eight-way logjam for 11th at 1-under 143. The Aztec sophomore climbed 21 places between the first and second rounds after firing rounds of 73 and 70. Chaves sank four birdies on the day, including three in the afternoon session, highlighted by a successful conversion on her finishing hole, the par-3, 163-yard No. 2.

Conversely, Georgia Lacey (Del Mar, Calif.) experienced a reversal of fortune in the second round, dropping out of the seventh spot into a tie for 40th at 3-over 147 after logging a 77. The Torrey Pines High alumna was cruising in round one, notching four birdies and 12 pars before a bogey on her final hole, the par-4 No. 1, served as a harbinger of things to come. The SDSU sophomore still finished the morning with a 70, but was unable to maintain the same steadiness later in the day as four additional bogeys and a double-bogey on the par-4, 10th green proved costly.

Sirene Blair (South Jordan, Utah) was also plagued by inconsistency on Sunday, completing the first 36 holes in a tie for 54th at 6-over 150 on cards of 74-76. The Aztec junior registered 16 pars against two bogeys in the opening round, but a dearth of birdies prevented a fast start. Blair eventually snagged an elusive birdie in the afternoon on the par-4 12th, but five bogeys, including three on her final five holes, were too much to overcome.

Rounding out the SDSU starting five was Haleigh Krause (Eugene, Ore.), who finished the day in 85th at 16-over 160. The Aztec sophomore was sank a birdie on her final hole of the morning, the par-4, No. 1, for an opening-round 77, but suffered three double-bogeys in round two en route to an 83.

The Scarlet and Black was also represented by freshman Hana Furuichi (San Diego, Calif.), an individual competitor who finished the day in a tie for 23rd at 1-over 145. Another Torrey Pines High product, Furuichi fired her two lowest scores as a collegian (74-71), highlighted by three birdies in the second round.

The Westbrook Spring Invitational concludes on Monday when the Aztecs tee off alongside Oregon State and tournament host Wisconsin for the final round in a shotgun start beginning at 7:30 a.m. PT.
