SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Oregon scored in each of the first four innings Saturday afternoon as it tallied seven runs en route to a 10-5 victory over San Diego State at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The win improved the No. 14 Ducks to 2-0 on the season while the Aztec saw their record drop to 0-2.

SDSU starting pitcher Cody Thompson struggled with his control over the first three innings of the game as he surrendered four walks, three of which would be turned into runs by the visitors. The junior right-hander left the contest after three frame after allowing five runs on four hits while striking out two. He would be saddled with the loss in his first decision of the year.

After spotting the Ducks a three- run lead heading into the bottom of the second. The Aztecs responded by tying the game with three markers of their own in that frame. An error and hit batter set the stage for David Hensley's two-run double to right center to cut the deficit to 3-2. Hensley would then advance to third on a passed ball and score on a wild pitch to tie the contest.

But Oregon answered right back in its half of the third as Steven Packard's two-run home gave it a lead it would not relinquish. Two more runs in the top of the fourth on an RBI triple by A.J. Balta and run-scoring single by Jakob Goldfarb made it a 7-3 score line.

The Aztecs pulled a run back in the fourth on an RBI single by Alan Trejo, but that would mark the end of their run production until Justin Wylie's single in the bottom of the ninth plated Dean Nevarez with the final run of the afternoon.

Duck reliever Kyle Robeniol tossed the final five innings in relief of starter Matt Krook to pick up the win. He allowed just a run on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

Trejo ended the day with a pair of singles and was the lone Aztecs to record more than one hit in the game.

Oregon and San Diego State will conclude their three-game series on Sunday, Feb. 21, with a game scheduled to get underway at noon at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
