SAN DIEGO - In its third match of the spring season, San Diego State men's soccer team fell to Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente Premier, 2-0, on Tuesday night atop SDSU Sports Deck.
Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente Premier, which plays in the Segunda División of Liga MX, is the official reserve team for Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente of Liga MX, Mexico's top professional league.
Los Xolos scored the golden goal in the 41st minute. Thanks to a pass from Miguel Padrón, Juan Pablo Montichelli's left footed shot from just inside the box gave his club a 1-0 lead.
Manuel Herrera's low shot from the top of the box handed Los Xolos the final 2-0 score.
The Aztecs were narrowly out-shot by Los Xolos, 10-9. SDSU took three corners to Los Xolos' one corner.
Next on the docket for San Diego State during their spring campaign is a 7 p.m. match on Sat., Feb. 27 at UC Riverside.
MAN OF THE MATCH: Dallin Cutler was the Aztecs' Man of the Match against Los Xolos. The redshirt sophomore was SDSU's most effective midfielder, succeeding at all three positions he played on the pitch due to injuries.
