COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- San Diego State's McKynzie Fort (Fontana, Calif.) has been named Mountain West Women's Basketball Player of the Week for a pair of sparkling performances from Feb. 8-14, as announced Monday by the league office. With her award, the Aztec sophomore collected the second weekly conference accolade of her career.

Fort averaged 19.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists, leading the Aztecs to victories over Fresno State and Air Force. The 5-9 guard was the team's top scorer in both contests, connecting on 46.2 percent of her shots on 12 of 26 field-goal attempts to go with a stellar 82.4 percent clip (14-17) at the free-throw line.

Against Fresno State on Feb. 10, Fort recorded her first collegiate double-double, posting a game-high 22 points and a personal-best 11 rebounds, as the Scarlet and Black prevailed in double overtime 65-54. She played in a career-high 42 minutes, shooting 6-for-16 from the floor (37.5 percent) and 10-for-12 (83.3 percent) at the charity stripe. In addition, the Etiwanda High alumna tied her season high with five assists and matched her collegiate best with two blocked shots. In the double-overtime period, Fort came up huge, scoring eight of the team's 19 points, helping the Aztecs snap a four-game losing streak to the second-place Bulldogs.

Fort, who also earned MW Player of the Week honors from the website CollegeSportsMadness.com, tallied 16 points in a 69-66 triumph at Air Force last Saturday. She drained 6 of 10 field-goal attempts and 4 of 5 foul shots while adding two assists and one steal. With 4.9 seconds remaining, Fort provided the final margin of victory with two clutch free throws. She also converted a crucial layup earlier in the fourth quarter, as SDSU extended its winning streak to three games.

For the season, Fort is averaging a team-high 14.8 points on 46.9 percent shooting and leads the Aztecs with 50 steals. She has surpassed the 20-point barrier on eight occasions this season, including five in MW play, and has amassed 37 double-digit scoring performances in 55 career games.

Fort and San Diego State return to action on Saturday, Feb. 20, when San José State invades Steve Fisher Court at Viejas Arena, starting at 2 p.m. PT. The Aztecs will don special pink uniforms as part of their annual "Play4Kay" game to highlight breast cancer awareness.
