On Friday afternoon, the San Diego State women's tennis team fell 7-0 to the 34th-ranked Washington Huskies. UW played host to the Aztecs at Nordstrom Tennis Center to drop SDSU to 2-4 on the season. The Aztecs will look to rebound tomorrow when they take on Saint Mary's.
Doubles competition got the afternoon underway as Sophia Bott and Kenadi Hance topped Kennedy Davis and Paola Diaz de Regules in the third spot, 6-2. Elianne Douglas-Miron and Miki Kobayashi combined in the second position to give Washington its first point as the duo got past Jana Buth and Tami Ngueyn, 6-3.
In singles play, Tami Grende defeated Davis on court No. 2, 6-2, 6-1. In the top spot, Stacey Fung topped Nguyen, 6-1, 6-3. In the third position, Douglas-Miron clinched the victory for the Huskies as she defeated Buth, 6-2, 6-2. In the fourth spot, Hance topped Diaz, 6-3, 6-2. On court No. 6, Kobayashi turned away Lederman, 7-5, 6-2. In the fifth spot, Bott finished off Isabelle Hoorn to give UW its final point, 6-1, 7-6 (5).
San Diego State will get back on the courts tomorrow when it faces No. 45 Saint Mary's in Seattle. First serve is set for 1 p.m. at Nordstrom Tennis Center.
