Ashley Henderson logged all-time San Diego State top-10 times in both the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash to pace the Aztec track and field team on the first day of the Don Kirby Collegiate Invitational Friday night in Albuquerque, N.M.
Henderson first ran to a time of 7.41 seconds in the prelims of the 60 meters to qualify for Saturday's semifinal. The time was the fifth-fastest 60 in Aztecs' indoor history and was the fifth-fastest time in the prelims of a loaded field.
Henderson later ran a huge personal record (PR) in the 200, clocking a time of 23.77. The time was the third fastest in program history, seventh fastest out of 89 entrants in the meet and 0.32 seconds faster than her previous best of 24.09, set last year at the Mountain West Championships.
Also excelling on the track for SDSU was freshman Sierra Brabham-Lawrence, who came in sixth in the prelims of the 60 hurdles with the sixth-fastest time in school history of 8.35.
Jazmen Bunch PR'd in both the 200 (24.24, 15th place) and the 60 (7.61 (tied), 25th), while Madison Gipson was 22nd in the 60 hurdles prelims in 8.62. Simone Glenn added a pair of top-30 finishes, taking 25th in the 200 (24.47) and 26th in the 60 (7.61), while Tyra Lea was 30th in the 200 in 24.64.
Day two of the meet gets underway for San Diego State at 10 a.m. MST Saturday with the shot put.
