The San Diego State women's tennis team fought for victory on Saturday as it edged UC Davis, 4-3. SDSU took an early lead by claiming the doubles point and did enough in singles play to walk with the decision. The close win at Aztec Tennis Center brought the overall record to 2-2.

In doubles competition, Kristy Jorgensen and Lani-Rae Green put UC Davis on the board by defeating Isabelle Hoorn and Taylor Lederman, 6-2, in the top spot. In second doubles Tami Nguyen and Jana Buth downed Tiffany Pham and Alex Huie to knot things up, 7-5. The doubles point came down to the third spot as Kennedy Davis and Paola Diaz de Regules fought for the decision over Kamila Kecki and Frederique Sleiffer, 7-6 (4).

In singles action, Nguyen gave the Aztecs their second point as she dismissed Jorgensen, 6-3, 6-3. On court No. 6, Kecki put the Aggies on the board as she got past Dora Somoracz, 6-2, 6-3. In the fourth position, Diaz brought San Diego State within one point of victory as she downed Huie, 6-3, 6-3. Sleiffer gave UC Davis hope as she defeated Taylor Lederman in the fifth spot, 7-6 (4), 6-2. Court No. 3 saw the Aztecs clinch the win as Buth defeated Jessie Lee, 7-6 (10), 6-3. The final match in the second spot saw the Aggies nab their final point of the day as Green got past Davis, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4.

San Diego State will next take on No. 46 Washington on Feb. 12 and will see No. 47 Saint Mary's in Seattle the following day.
