Despite a spirited effort, the San Diego State women's tennis team could not top No. 22 Kentucky on Friday afternoon. The match held at Aztec Tennis Center saw SDSU fall behind early in doubles play but put up a fight in singles play. Ultimately the effort was not enough and the Aztecs fell, 7-0.

In the top spot, the No. 1 ranked doubles team in the country, Aldila Sutjiadi and Mami Adachi gave the Wildcats the advantage by defeating Tami Nguyen and Jana Buth, 6-1. Justina Mikulskyte and Nadia Ravita clinched the point for Kentucky by topping Dora Somoracz and Olivia Larsson, 6-0, in the third position. On court No. 2 Akvile Parazinskaite and Morgan Chumney took the final doubles match over Isabelle Hoorn and Taylor Lederman, 6-1.

In singles play, Kirsten Lewis gave the Wildcats their second point by getting past Hoorn in the sixth spot, 6-1, 6-1. In the third position, Mikulskyte brought Kentucky to three points overall by defeating Buth, 6-3, 6-3. On court No. 5, the former Wildcat and current Aztec, Lederman, fell to Parazinskaite, 6-1, 7-6 (7). In the fourth spot, Chumney topped Paola Diaz de Regules, 6-4, 6-3. In the matchup in the top spot, No. 50 Nguyen and No. 97 Sutjiadi split the first two sets and battled for the decision, with the Wildcat upsetting the Aztec senior, 6-4, 2-6, 6-1. In the final match of the day, Kennedy Davis rallied to take the second set and took the duel to a 10-point tiebreaker but could not finish, falling to No. 100 Adachi, 6-4, 6-7 (4), 10-8.

Next up, San Diego State is scheduled to travel north to face No. 18 Pepperdine on Sunday. First serve is set for 1 p.m. PT in Malibu, Calif.
