SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's water polo team will play host to its annual alumni game on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 11 a.m. PT at Aztec Aquaplex. Admission is free and the contest marks the first opportunity for fans to see the 16th-ranked team in the nation.

SDSU enters the 2016 campaign as the back-to-back Golden Coast regular-season champions a season after posting its second straight 6-0 league record. The Aztecs are led by GCC Co-Player of the Year and ACWPC Honorable Mention All-American Caroline Israels, who led San Diego State with 61 goals to go along with a career-high 53 steals and 18 assists in 2015.

Israels is joined by three other Aztecs who have been named All-Americans at some point during their college careers in junior defender Ioli Benekou, junior center Alyssa Diacono and senior goalkeeper Rachel Mitchell.

SDSU's All-America quartet will look to repeat its effort from a year ago when the current Aztecs defeated the former Aztecs, 8-7. The victory avenged a 2014 loss to the alumni.

The alumni team will feature past All-Americans, all-conference performers and Aztecs from San Diego State's NCAA tournament teams from the last 20-plus years.

The Aztecs will officially open the campaign on Saturday, Jan. 30, when they travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan, to compete in the Michigan Kick Off.
