SAN DIEGO - San Diego State women's soccer incoming freshman Kate Hart has been named a California All-Star by TopDrawerSoccer.com. She is one of seven goalkeepers on the 78-player all-star team.
Hailing from Huntington Beach, Hart will arrive on Montezuma Mesa from Slammers FC and Huntington Beach High. She was named to the 2014 Excalibur Cup All-Tournament Team after helping her squad win the championship. While at Huntington Beach, Hart was named first-team all-Orange County after allowing just six goals all season.
Hart is one of eight newcomers to the program in 2015 and will join an SDSU team that has won the last three Mountain West regular-season and tournament championships. This season, the Aztecs, who have advanced to three consecutive NCAA tournaments, will look to become the first MW program to sweep both titles four years in a row.
San Diego State, which returns 15 letterwinners and six starters off last season's conference championship team, will be in action on Friday, Aug. 14, when it plays host to a friendly vs. Long Beach State at 7 p.m. PT. The campaign will officially get underway a week later when Utah Valley visits SDSU Sports Deck (Friday, Aug. 21, 7 p.m. PT). Admission to all home games is free.
