Looking To #Win20, SDSU Plays Host To Air Force In MW Championship Game
* San Diego State looks for the 20th conference title in school history, second in the Mountain West era, first league title since 2012 and first outright conference title since 1986 when the Aztecs play host to Air Force on Saturday at Qualcomm Stadium. Kickoff for the 2015 Sports Authority Mountain West Championship game is set for 4:30 p.m PT on ESPN2, the Mighty 1090 and The Max 105.7 FM.
STREAKING
* San Diego State has won eight consecutive games, which is its longest win streak since a 10-game streak in 1976-77. The eight-game win streak is the fifth-longest active in FBS (Clemson 15, Iowa 12, North Carolina 11 and Alabama 9).
* San Diego State has won 10 consecutive conference games, the second-longest streak in school history eclipsed only be a 23-game stretch from 1965-70. The 10-game streak is the second-longest active streak in FBS (Western Kentucky 11).
* The Aztecs have won 16 straight home contests against unranked conference opponents. That is tied for the second-longest active streak in the country (Clemson 23 and Alabama 16) by a team currently in a conference.
* SDSU has won 10 consecutive conference home games, dating back to a 35-28 loss to No. 15 Fresno State on Oct. 26, 2013.
The above streaks are not in jeopardy in the conference championship game.
DOMINANT STRETCH
* San Diego State is the only team in the country that has gone 8-0 in its last eight games winning each game by at least 10 points.
* SDSU has not trailed in the second half during its eight-game winning streak. That is a span of 240:00 on the game clock, the second longest active streak nationally (Iowa, 325:05).
* On game day, it will be 70 days since the Aztecs last lost a game (69 days without a defeat, not counting Dec. 5).
* SDSU finished with a 8-0 conference record for the first time in 93 seasons of the football program. The last time the Aztecs posted an undefeated conference season was in 1974 (4-0 in the PCAA).
* San Diego State is one of just six schools in the last 20 seasons (since 1996) to complete an undefeated league season with each victory coming by double-digits (also Miami (Fla.) in 2000, Boise State in 2002, Oklahoma in 2003, Utah in 2004 and Florida State in 2013).
* The Aztecs rank among the FBS elite in many categories, including first in turnover margin (+1.67) and turnovers forced (31), second in fewest interceptions (3), fourth in passes intercepted (20) and rushing defense (95.0), fifth in total defense (283.6), sixth in red zone offense (93.3) and turnovers lost (11), seventh in opponent third down percentage (28.5), ninth in scoring defense (16.6) and 15th in rushing offense (235.5).
* During its 10-game conference win streak, the Aztecs have outscored the opposition, 357-111, (35.7-11.0). SDSU is 26-5 over its last 31 MW games.
* San Diego State has won eight straight games by at least 14 points for the first time since an eight-game stretch from Dec. 6, 1969-Oct. 31, 1970.
* The Aztecs rushed for 320 rushing yards in their win against Nevada. San Diego State has won 21 straight games when rushing for at least 200 yards and is 29-2 in the Rocky Long era when reaching 200-plus yards.
* SDSU has eight straight games with at least 200 yards rushing for the first time in its Division I history (since 1969). Prior to this streak the Aztecs had never put together five straight games with at least 200 yards rushing.
THE SERIES
* San Diego State has defeated Air Force a school-record five consecutive times, outscoring the Academy 153-95 during that win streak.
* The Aztecs have limited the Falcons high-powered rushing attack to less than 200 yards rushing in three of the most recent four meetings.
