Game Notes vs. Washington

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's basketball team will embark on its farthest road trip of the 2015 non-conference schedule early this week when it travels to the Pacific Northwest for a Monday night matchup with Washington, beginning at 7 p.m. PT in Seattle, Wash.

SDSU alumnus Chris Ello will handle the play-by-play responsibilities from Alaska Airlines Arena for a live audio stream on GoAztecs.com, while streaming video via the Pac-12 Networks will also be available online.

The Aztecs (0-3) closed off their brief two-game homestand last Thursday with a tough 65-54 setback to UC Davis. Sophomore Geena Gomez (Huntington Beach, Calif.), who sat out as a redshirt last year after transferring from St. Joseph's (Pa.), made her debut for the Scarlet and Black against the Aggies, posting a team-high 13 points off the bench, highlighted by a trio of three-pointers, to go with two steals. In addition, SDSU received nine points each from junior Ariell Bostick (Oakland, Calif.) and sophomore McKynzie Fort (Fontana, Calif.), while senior Deidra Smith (Aurora, Colo.) grabbed seven rebounds.

Washington (3-0), meanwhile, has been firing on all cylinders since the start of the season, averaging 95 points per game in consecutive victories over Santa Clara (100-55), Seattle (96-55) and Fresno State (89-79). Against the Bulldogs in their last outing Friday, the Huskies had four players reach double figures in scoring, including All-America candidate Kelsey Plum, who finished with 32 points on 10-for-17 shooting to help her squad rally from a five-point deficit in the third quarter on the road.

SDSU will battle Washington for the second year in a row and fourth time in program history. The Huskies have captured the last two meetings, including a 69-48 decision at Viejas Arena a year ago, when Plum erupted for 30 points to help the visitors break open a tight game with four minutes elapsed in the second half. The Aztecs have made one previous visit to "The Emerald City" in 2012, as UW erased a 19-point deficit to claim a stunning 59-58 victory and avenge a 63-51 setback in San Diego in 2011.

Monday's clash will be SDSU's lone encounter of the regular season against a Pac-12 opponent. The Aztecs have dropped their last four meetings to Pac-12 squads (Washington - 2012, 2014; USC - 2013; UCLA - 2013) and are 68-112 all-time against current members of that conference. On the flip side, the Huskies are 38-8 vs. teams that are presently aligned with the Mountain West.

Following Monday's contest, San Diego State will square off against North Dakota State (Nov. 27) and Wisconsin (Nov. 29) in the inaugural SDSU Thanksgiving Classic next weekend at Steve Fisher Court at Viejas Arena.
