FALL CLASSIC II - DAY TWO RESULTS
The San Diego State women's tennis team finished up day two at the SDSU Fall Classic II on Saturday. The Aztecs advanced to four title matches, including all three of the doubles championship match ups. The tournament will conclude on Sunday at Aztec Tennis Center.
In doubles action, Tami Nguyen and Jana Buth defeated Lily Forlini and Mary Meyers of Air Force, 6-1. The Aztec duo will face Mickey Hsu and Kristen Poei of CSUN in the title match of the red draw tomorrow at 9 a.m. In the black draw, Isabelle Hoorn and Taylor Lederman downed Samantha Czarniak and Sophia Thomas of Arizona, 7-5. The SDSU doubles team will take on Chloe Forlini and Jocelle Rudico of Air Force at 9 a.m. Sunday. In the white bracket, Paola Diaz de Regules and Kennedy Davis fell to Emma Wilson and Olivia Noble of Fresno State, 6-3. Dora Somoracz and Olivia Larsson were more fortunate as the duo topped Carley Hatcliff and Elizabeth Barnickel of Air Force, 7-6 (5). The San Diego State pair will face Wilson and Noble of Fresno State for the white draw title.
In singles play in the grey bracket, Larsson dropped a 6-2, 6-4, decision to Noble of Fresno State. In the black draw, Davis finished off Stephanie Hazell of UC Irvine, 6-1, 6-3. Davis will contend for the consolation title of her draw tomorrow at 10 a.m.
In the gold bracket, Somoracz kept the competition close but could not finish off Kiryang Kim of CSUN, falling, 7-5, 7-6 (2). Lederman battled Sophia Thomas of Arizona in the pink draw and came out on top, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.
In the red bracket, Nguyen finished off Sarah Gong of UC Irvine, 6-2, 6-2, to advance to the title match. Nguyen will face Tina Bokhua of University of Colorado tomorrow at 10 a.m.
In the white draw, Diaz defeated Bryn Bacharach of Cal Poly, 6-3, 6-4. Diaz will vie for the consolation title of the bracket tomorrow at 10 a.m. against Poei of CSUN. On the opposite side of the bracket, Hoorn fell to Chloe Forlini of Air Force, 6-2, 6-3.
The final day of the tournament will get underway tomorrow at 9 a.m. at Aztec Tennis Center.
