LARAMIE, Wyo. - San Diego State wrapped up its weekend trip to the Rockies with a three-set loss at Wyoming Saturday afternoon in Laramie. The Cowgirls defeated the Aztecs by scores of 25-19, 25-22, 25-22.

With the loss, SDSU saw its record fall to 7-18 overall and 4-8 in the Mountain West. Wyoming, meanwhile, improved to 18-6 (8-4 MW).

Deja Harris led San Diego State with nine kills and also recorded seven blocks, two digs and a service ace. Emma Fuzie and Baylee Little ended the contest with eight kills apiece as the Aztecs finished with more total kills than the Cowgirls (37-36).

Other SDSU stat leaders included Devyn Pritchard with nine digs and Hailey Jones with 19 assists.

The first set featured 10 ties over the first half of the contest until, at 13-13, Wyoming scored three straight points to take the lead for good. The Aztecs stayed close and were able to get back to within a point at 20-19, but from there the Cowgirls ran off five consecutive points thanks to an SDSU service miscue and four Aztec attack errors.

UW's three-point margin of victory in the second set didn't tell the story of the contest as the home side got out of the blocks quickly and ran out to a 20-9 lead. The teams traded a few points and with the score at 24-15 in favor of Wyoming, the Cowgirls committed eight straight attack errors (including a combination block by Alexis Cage and Kaja Sandberg) to allow the Aztecs to get within two at 24-22. But the Cowgirls then got a game-winning kill to capture the set and go up 2-0 in the match.

Set number three was tied at 1-1 when Wyoming rallied for six consecutive points to grab the upper hand early in the contest. Although they trailed by as many as six midway through the set, the Aztecs fought back and narrowed that lead to a single marker at 20-19. Three straight UW points opened up a 23-19 advantage for the Cowgirls and they went on to the three-point set victory to claim the match win.

San Diego State will now return home where it will host a pair of Mountain West matches next week. That home stand begins with a contest against Fresno State on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 6:00 p.m. on Aztec Court.
