SAN DIEGO - San Diego State women's water polo head coach Carin Crawford has been named to the Coaches Council of the Alliance of Women Coaches (AWC). The 18th-year head coach is one of nine coaches nationally on the Council.
Crawford and the Coaches Council will serve the AWC in two capacities. They will serve as a sounding board for the executive director to ensure the Alliance is thoughtfully and strategically serving women coaches from all sports and all levels. They will also serve as ambassadors for the Alliance in their respective coaching communities and networks.
In 17 seasons at SDSU, Crawford has led the Aztecs to a top-17 national finish in every year and more recently, guided them to back-to-back Golden Coast Conference regular-season titles. She has also coached San Diego State to 14 seasons of at least 20 victories and the school's first two NCAA Championship appearances.
Crawford, a 2015 Women Coaches Academy graduate, is set to return four All-Americans in 2016, and the group will look to continue SDSU's dominance in the Golden Coast as the Aztecs have posted a 12-0 GCC record in the league's two years of existence.
