SAN DIEGO -
SDSU FOOTBALL FUTURE SCHEDULES
The San Diego State football team and Utah have agreed to a home-and-home series, beginning in 2021, the two schools announced Wednesday. The Aztecs and Utes will first play at Qualcomm Stadium on Sept. 18, 2021 with the return game in Salt Lake City scheduled for Sept. 17, 2022.
SDSU will play at least one Pac-12 school in every season through the 2022 campaign, all home-and-home series. After playing Oregon State each of the past two years (2013-14), San Diego State kicked off a home-and-home series with California on Sept. 12 in Berkeley (also 2016 at Qualcomm Stadium). The Aztecs are also slated to play a series with Arizona State (2017 in Tempe, 2018 at Qualcomm Stadium), a home-and-home with Stanford (2017 at Qualcomm Stadium, 2018 in Stanford), a series with UCLA (2019 in Los Angeles, 2020 at Qualcomm Stadium) and finally a series with Arizona (2021 in Tucson, 2022 at Qualcomm Stadium) in addition to the Utah games (2021-22).
SDSU and Utah haven't met since both were in the Mountain West in 2010. The Utes own a 17-12-1 all-time advantage in the series over San Diego State and have won the last five meetings.
Utah is currently ranked third in the AP Top-25 poll and seventh in the Coaches poll with a perfect 6-0 record (3-0 in Pac-12 play).
The Aztecs, who are one of 27 schools to play in a bowl game each of the last five seasons and one of just three from the "Group of 5" conferences, are 4-3 on the year and 3-0 in league play. SDSU and Utah State (4-2, 3-0 MW) meet Friday night (7:30 p.m. PT) at Qualcomm Stadium in a game between the MW's only remaining unbeaten teams in conference play.
