SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The San Diego State Aztec swimming and diving team is ranked second this week in CollegeSwimming.com’s Mid-Major Poll. The ranking is based on the Aztecs’ most recent meet result, wins over Vanderbilt and Oregon State in a double dual meet on Oct. 15.
During that competition, SDSU defeated Oregon State by the score of 121.5-105.5, and Vanderbilt with a score of 128-104. The victories improved the Aztecs to 3-0 on the season.
Mid-Major teams are those programs that are either not affiliated with a BCS conference or offer fewer than 50% of the maximum number of scholarships allowed by the NCAA. CollegeSwimming.com produces a Mid-Major ranking throughout the season and recognizes Mid-Major All-Americans each April.
In addition to its No. 2 ranking in the Mid-Major Poll, San Diego State is also ranked 31st in CollegeSwimming.com’s overall Division I poll. SDSU is the highest-ranked squad in the Mountain west this week.
The Aztecs will be back in action in just over two weeks when they host Mountain West foe New Mexico along with Washington State in a double dual meet at the Aztec Aquaplex starting at 10:00 a.m.CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major Poll 1.
