SEATTLE, Wash. - San Diego State held No. 15 Washington scoreless for nearly 82 minutes, but fell in the match's dying minutes, 1-0, in the team's Pac-12 opener on Friday night.

With the loss, San Diego State falls to 5-2-2 and opens conference play with a 0-1 record. No. 15 Washington now maintains a 5-1-3 mark, 1-0 in league.

Washington attempted to test Adam Allmaras early in the match, forcing the redshirt sophomore to make a stop just 48 seconds into the match. It was the Huskies' only shot on target in the half, as the Aztecs' solid defense thwarted any Washington offensive threat.

The second half opened nearly identically to the first half. Allmaras was forced into action shortly after returning from the intermission, saving a shot one-and-a-half minute into the period.

Dallin Cutler was one of the Aztecs' top offensive performers during the match, and he was almost able to put San Diego State on the scoreboard. He recorded a flurry of shots midway through the second half, capped by a shot on goal in the 67th minute.

But after the attempt, the match seemed to move into Washington's favor. The Huskies took four shots in 12-and-a-half minutes before cashing in at the 81:24 mark. Danny Gavin put a diving header in the back of the net from just outside the box, thanks to an assist from Beau Blanchard.

Both teams took nine shots in the match, with the Aztecs putting three on net and the Huskies recorded four shots on goal. Washington took two more corners than San Diego State, 6-4. Allmaras' record fell to 3-2-2, while Ryan Herman's mark moved to 4-1-3.

The Aztecs continue their first weekend of Pac-12 play with a match at Oregon State on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

MAN OF THE MATCH: The Aztecs' Man of the Match is Adam Allmaras. The redshirt sophomore made three saves, helping to lead San Diego State's strong play with its last line of defense. San Diego State limited the Huskies to just three shots on goal before the Huskies scored the match-winner.
