SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State lacrosse team has announced its captains for the upcoming season, with Anna Cholewczynski, Andrea Killebrew and Jacqueline Leibrandt serving as the Aztecs' appointed team leaders for the 2016 campaign.
"This year's captains were chosen by their teammates because of their natural ability to lead," head coach Kylee White said. "They all bring something different to the table but each do a great job of both leading by example and providing vocal leadership. They are passionate about this program, the University and what it means to be a successful student-athlete. They are great representatives of our program and I am excited to see how they will lead us to our goals for this season."
Cholewczynski, a senior from Rockville, Md., is a two-time MPSF All-Academic honoree (2014 and 2015). Last season, she played in 13 contests for the Aztecs picking up three ground balls and causing a turnover.
A senior from Las Vegas, Killebrew started 12-of-15 contests for the Aztecs in 2015, a campaign that saw her score six goals and add nine assists for 15 points. She posted four multi-point contests.
Leibrandt, a native of Glenview, Ill., played in two contests during her redshirt-sophomore season. She scooped up three ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers in those games.
Coming off of a 2015 campaign that saw San Diego State set a program mark for wins and produce a school-record seven-game winning streak, the Aztecs will be joined in 2016 by a prestigious recruiting class. The group features three high school All-Americans, four all-conference or all-league picks, three all-county and all-section or all-group honorees and a pair of all-state players and player of the year selections.
