SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis team is set to participate in the ITA West Regional, beginning on Thursday, Oct. 15. The tournament will be held at Barnes Tennis Center in the Point Loma area of San Diego. The event will run through Monday, Oct. 19.

The ITA tournament will include singles and doubles action throughout the event. Schools from all over the region will compete including 11 from Southern California, three from Arizona and one from Hawaii.

The Aztecs are participating in their second event of the fall season after hosting the SDSU Fall Classic I. San Diego State had three singles players and one doubles team reach their respective finals before the tournament was cancelled due to weather.

SDSU will look to veteran leadership during the regional play with three returning seniors in Tami Nguyen, Isabelle Hoorn and Dora Somoracz. At last season's regional, Nguyen and Somoracz combined to make it to the doubles quarterfinal before falling to Gabriella DeSimone and Meredith Xepoles of USC.

The winner of the tournament in doubles and the finalists in singles will advance to the ITA National Indoors in November. Complete results from each day of the ITA West Regional will be posted on GoAztecs.com.
