SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The San Diego State men's tennis team continued action at the SDSU Invitational on Saturday, with freshman Raul de la Torre advancing to the his flight's consolation final at Aztec Tennis Center.
De la Torre moves on to the flight two consolation final with after winning the first set, 7-6, in a nine-set tiebreak and taking the second set, 6-4, over Grand Canyon's Justin Cvitanovic.
Sander Gjoles-Anderson also earned a win on the day against Pepperdine's Scotland Garapedian, taking the first set, 6-4, and winning the second set tiebreak, 7-6 (2).
After posting a 1-1 mark yesterday, closing out the opening day of the SDSU Invitational with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win over USD's Alexandros Araouzos, Jonas Meinzer fell to Justin Agbayani of UCI, 6-3, 6-2.
Santiago Cevallos also suffered a loss, falling to Grand Canyon's Felix Schueller, 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles action, Cevallos and Meinzer advanced to the consolation bracket's quarterfinal with a 6-2 victory over Grand Canyon's Meidy Chezau and Gregoire Balenci, while de la Torre and Anderson fell to USD's Pratt Keerasuntonpong and James Ponwith, 6-3.
The SDSU Invitational concludes on Sunday, with action slated to begin at 9 a.m.
