LOS ANGELES - San Diego State concluded its weekend of competition by dropping a three-set match at Loyola Marymount Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles. The Lions (9-3) prevailed by set scores of 25-23, 25-17 and 25-15 as they won for the sixth straight time.

With the loss the Aztecs saw their season record fall to 3-9 as they finished up their pre-Mountain West slate.

Alexis Cage led SDSU with nine kills and also registered seven digs on the afternoon. Freshman Alexandra Psoma added eight kills and matched Cage's dig total with seven of her own.

Redshirt freshman Deja Harris had five blocks along with six kills and two digs. In the process she improved her season blocking average of 1.05 per set.

The first set was a close affair that saw LMU eventually record a two-point win and with it the momentum in the match. SDSU held the lead over the first half of the contest and held a two-point advantage at 18-16. From there, however, the Lions scored five straight points to go up 21-18. The Aztecs replied to knot the score at 22-all, but a kill and a pair of SDSU hitting errors gave the home side the two-point win.

In the second set San Diego state raced out to a 7-3 lead only to see the Lions come back to tie the contest at 9-9. LMU then scored six consecutive points to take a 15-9 lead and it did not allow the Aztecs to get within five the remainder of the game.

Set number three began as a close contest with LMU taking a 9-8 lead before it scored eight of the next nine points to increase its advantage to 17-9. The teams essentially then traded points the rest of the way, but the Aztecs were unable to make up any ground as the Lions secured the set and match victories.

San Diego State will now return home to prepare for its 2015 Mountain West opener this coming week as it travels to Albuquerque to take on New Mexico on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 7:00 p.m. (PT).
