SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State athletic director Jim Sterk announced the promotions of two veterans of the Aztec Media Relations Office as Jamie McConeghy and Darin Wong have been promoted to assistant athletic directors for media relations.
An 11-year veteran of San Diego State, McConeghy serves as a primary contact for the football program, which has advanced to a bowl game each of the past five seasons. In addition to serving as the direct contact for several sports, McConeghy also oversees the media relations' Olympic sports efforts, website design and quality control.
Beginning his 12th season, Wong, a graduate of San Diego State, serves as the media contact for several sports, including as a primary contact for the nationally ranked men's basketball program. He oversees the media relations department's interns and students as well as social media efforts for the entire athletic department.
Both McConeghy and Wong assist the athletic department in strategic planning.
In addition, Victoria Valencia, a graduate of San Diego State University has been named media relations coordinator. Valencia, now in her fourth year at SDSU, handles credential requests, monitors the day-to-day business, including the budget, of the media relations office and is the primary contact for several sports.
