NEW ORLEANS - San Diego State track and field student-athlete Alexa Evans has been named a USTFCCCA All-Academic selection, the association announced today.

Evans qualified for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team by owning a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher and participating in any round of the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

A junior, Evans finished 15th in the discus throw at the NCAA West Prelims on May 29 in Austin, Texas, with a throw of 173 feet, 2 inches (52.78m). She just missed qualifying for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., as the top 12 from each region (west and east) moved onto the championship rounds. Evans owns a 3.25 GPA while majoring in public administration.

Evans was one of 10 Aztec track and field student-athletes that yesterday was named to the Mountain West Spring Academic All-Conference team. It was her third straight selection (2013-15).
