SAN DIEGO - San Diego State Director of Athletics Jim Sterk announced today the promotions of six executive staff members. The group has dedicated over nine decades worth of service time to SDSU athletics.
“This group of people has been instrumental in San Diego State’s athletic department enjoying the greatest period of success in its history,” Sterk said. “I look forward to the continued contributions of this group as we look forward to even greater successes.”
Jenny Bramer has been named Executive Associate Athletic Director. A member of the Aztecs athletic department since 2003, Bramer oversees eight SDSU teams as well as sports medicine, information technology and gender equity. She also fulfills the NCAA-required role of SWA. In addition, she is on the Mountain West Joint Council and serves as the chair of the NCAA Women’s Water Polo Committee.
Steve Schnall, who just completed his 19th year atop Montezuma Mesa, has been named Senior Associate AD/External Relations. The Syracuse graduate oversees marketing, media relations, the ticket office and is the sport supervisor for women’s basketball, men’s and women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s golf. He currently serves as the department’s liaison with its multi-media rights holder.
Chuck Lang begins the 2015-16 academic year as Senior Associate Athletic Director/Business Administration. Now in his ninth season at San Diego State, Lang oversees the business office, human resources and the equipment room. He is responsible for financial reporting, developing and monitoring the department’s budget as well as the day-to-day business operations of the department. Lang also serves as the sports supervisor for men’s soccer and swimming and diving programs.
Mike May has been named Senior Associate Athletic Director/Communications and Media Relations. He is entering his 16th season at San Diego State and oversees the media relations efforts, and is responsible for the overall image of the department, including communications, media relations and organizational messaging. He oversees the media relations office, official athletic department website, GoAztecs.com, and video departments.
Mandy McKinley Huiras has been named Senior Associate Athletic Director/Development. Arriving at SDSU in January of 2010, McKinley Huiras will manage the day-to-day operations of the development office, while continuing to be in charge of the Aztec Club and annual giving. In addition to those duties, she will also secure major gifts for the advancement of athletic facility projects. She will also supervise the rowing program.
Gina Balistrieri has been named Associate Athletic Director/Ticket Operations. In her role, Balistrieri oversees San Diego State’s ticket operations, which includes developing pricing, marketing and other customer service initiatives for football, men’s and women’s basketball and postseason events that take place on campus. An athletics department employee for 31 years, Balistrieri also works with the Aztec Club to coordinate priority seating efforts.
