SAN DIEGO - San Diego State men's golf graduate Xander Schauffele (San Diego, Calif.) capped off his stellar collegiate career Thursday, garnering third-team PING Division I All-America accolades from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Schauffele, who also received third-team All-America recognition from Golfweek earlier this month, becomes the first Aztec to earn a spot on two All-America teams in the same season since J.J. Spaun accomplished the feat in 2012.

A two-time PING All-West Region selection, Schauffele paced SDSU with eight individual top-five performances and a team-best 70.84 scoring average during his senior campaign in 2014-15. In addition, he topped the squad with 27 rounds at or below par, finishing in the 60s on 13 occasions.

Schauffele claimed medalist honors for the third time in his collegiate career at the Aztecs' own Barona Collegiate Cup in February where he established a school record for lowest score in relation to par at a 54-hole tournament with a blistering 17-under 199. During the second and third rounds of the event, he recorded back-to-back cards of 64 to tie for fifth on the school's all-time list for lowest 18-hole score. For his effort, the Scripps Ranch High alumnus collected the first of three consecutive Mountain West Men's Golfer of the Week awards.

A three-time all-MW honoree, Schauffele also landed in the runner-up position on four occasions, including the conference tournament, where he led the Aztecs to their third Mountain West title in the last five years after posting a 9-under 204, which ranks as the lowest 54-hole total in program history at a league championship.

San Diego State wrapped up another successful campaign earlier this month after placing 15th out of 30 teams in stroke play at the NCAA Championships in Bradenton, Fla.

The GCAA recognized 61 of the nation's top men's collegiate golfers overall with 11 selections on the first, 10 picks each on the second and third teams, followed by 30 honorable mention recipients.
