SAN DIEGO - San Diego State softball commit Molly Sturdivant was named the ocsidelines.com Crestview League MVP, the website recently announced.
On the season, the catcher/third baseman batted .573 with eight home runs, 50 RBIs and 33 runs, while posting a 1.021 slugging percentage and a .627 on-base mark. In 30 games, she had 19 doubles and added 12 stolen bases, and was perfect in the field as a catcher (.957 fielding percentage at third base).
Sturdivant helped El Modena High School win a league title and advance to the CIF quarterfinals. She was also named El Modena's Female Athlete of the Year and a scholar-athlete, while garnering second-team all-CIF accolades.
Sturdivant is one of three athletes who signed National Letters of Intent to play at SDSU in November.
The Aztecs, one of just 20 schools in the country to play in a NCAA tournament at least eight consecutive years, finished 2015 with a 38-20 record. SDSU set seven school records, including batting average (.310), slugging percentage (.486), runs (324), home runs (63), RBIs (293), total bases (758) and hits (484).
