SAN DIEGO -

2015 SDSU Women's Soccer Schedule

San Diego State women's soccer head coach Mike Friesen announced the three-time defending Mountain West champions' 2015 schedule today. The Aztecs, who have appeared in the last three NCAA tournaments, will play eight regular-season games atop SDSU Sports Deck in addition to playing host to the MW Championship for the second consecutive year.

In preparation for the campaign, the Aztecs will take on Long Beach State in home friendly on Aug. 14, at 7 p.m. PT. The 49ers, who will be a solid test for SDSU, finished 2014 with an 8-7-6 record and advanced to the championship game of the 2014 Big West tournament.

The season officially gets underway on Aug. 21, when Utah Valley visits the corner of 55th Street and Montezuma Road. Last year, the Wolverines put together an overall record of 13-7-2 and saw its season come to an end in the semifinals of the WAC tournament after going 7-3 in conference action.

After two early season home dates, San Diego State will play seven of its next nine on the road beginning with two separate one-game weekends at Kentucky and California. The game with the Wildcats on Aug. 23, at 7 p.m. ET comes after UK reached the 2014 NCAA Sweet 16 for the first time in school history. The Aug. 29 date at Berkeley (2 p.m. PT), meanwhile, is a rematch of last year's thrilling, yet disappointing, NCAA first round game. The Aztecs rallied from a 2-1 first-half deficit to force overtime, and eventually double OT, before falling in the 105th minute to the Golden Bears, 3-2.

SDSU will return home for a single game on Sept. 6, at 7 p.m. PT to face Florida Gulf Coast. The Aztecs will clash with an Eagles team that reached the NCAA tournament after winning the Atlantic Sun regular-season and tournament championship en route to a 17-4 record, which included a perfect 7-0 mark within the league.

Following the short stay in America's Finest City, San Diego State will hop on an airplane and head to Phoenix to play Arizona and Arizona State. Both games will take place in Tempe with SDSU taking on the Wildcats on Sept. 11, and the Sun Devils on Sept. 13. Game times have not been determined. Arizona reached the second round of the NCAA tournament and ASU was ousted by Kentucky in the second round as well.

Four days later, the Aztecs will play host to cross-town foe San Diego in a special Thursday night contest. The Sept. 17 game is set for a 7 p.m. PT start and will give SDSU an opportunity to avenge its 2-0 defeat to the Toreros last year. The last time these teams met at SDSU Sports Deck, San Diego State cruised to a 3-0 victory back in 2013.

SDSU's final tune-up before conference play will happen on Sept. 20, when it plays at UC Davis (1 p.m. PT). The game is the return from the Aggies' visit to Montezuma Mesa a year ago when San Diego State earned a 2-0 win.

The Aztecs' journey for their fourth straight MW regular-season crown will begin on the road when they play at Boise State on Sept. 25, at 4 p.m. MT. SDSU's season-opening conference road trip will then take it to Logan, Utah, where Utah State awaits on Sept. 27 (1 p.m. MT).

San Diego State's longest homestand of the year starts on Oct. 2, when UNLV comes to town. Nevada will follow in the Rebels' footsteps on Oct. 4, with Colorado State making its second-ever appearance atop the Sports Deck on Oct. 9. The UNLV and CSU games are slated for 7 p.m. PT starts, while the Wolf Pack game will begin at noon PT.

Sandwiched between SDSU's three-game homestand and its shorter two-gamer is a trip to Laramie, Wyoming, to face the Cowgirls. The schools will rekindle a series that saw the Aztecs beat Wyoming, 5-2, in San Diego in the regular season and then defeat them again in overtime of the MW championship game, 1-0. The game is scheduled for Oct. 11, at 1 p.m. MT.

San Diego State will put the finishing touches on its regular-season home slate on Oct. 16 and 18, when Fresno State and San José State, respectively, head south to The Mesa. The Aztecs and Bulldogs will tangle at 7 p.m. PT, before giving way to Sunday's Senior Day game vs. the Spartans (2:30 p.m. PT). SDSU will honor its five seniors that afternoon.

The final stretch of MW games will take place on the road, first beginning with a trip to Air Force and Colorado College. The Aztecs take on the Falcons at USAF Academy, Colorado, on Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. MT, and then head to Colorado Springs on Oct. 25, to face the Tigers at noon MT.

SDSU completes its regular season at New Mexico on Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. MT. The Aztecs have won their last three games played in Albuquerque after beating the Lobos during the 2013 regular season, and then downing Utah State and Boise State at the conference tournament, which UNM played host.

As a result of winning the 2014 MW Championship, San Diego State has the pleasure of playing host to the conference tournament once again in 2015. The three-day championship is set to start on Nov. 3, with the quarterfinal rounds, followed by the semifinals on Nov. 5. The title game, meanwhile, will take place on Nov. 7, under the SDSU Sports Deck lights at 7 p.m. PT.
