SAN DIEGO - San Diego State women's tennis head coach Peter Mattera announced today that Taylor Lederman has been added to the Aztecs' roster after signing her Grant-in-Aid with the University. Lederman comes to Montezuma Mesa after spending her first two seasons at Kentucky.

Hailing from Sarasota, Florida, Lederman was one of the top junior players in the country coming out of Cardinal Mooney High School. While in Lexington, she helped the Wildcats to a pair of NCAA tournament appearances and two top-30 finishes, including a No. 25 ranking in 2015.

As a freshman, Lederman saw action in seven matches and picked up singles victories vs. No. 74 Marshall, Cincinnati and Morehead State. This past season, she posted a 7-4 singles record during the dual campaign with wins coming against No. 21 Clemson, No. 23 Mississippi, No. 27 Arizona State, No. 47 Penn State and No. 63 Tulane. For her career, Lederman is 13-15 in singles and 4-5 in doubles (3-4 in 2015).

"Taylor had wins in both singles and doubles vs. many nationally ranked teams in her time at Kentucky and I expect that she will have an immediate positive impact on our program," Mattera said. "She will join a very strong returning group for 2015-16 and I am excited to welcome Taylor to the San Diego State Aztec family."

Lederman is set to join an SDSU team that brings back eight of its 10 players from 2015, including rising senior Tami Nguyen, who earned all-Mountain West singles accolades this past year. As a team, the Aztecs completed the dual season with a 13-11 record with four of those victories coming against nationally ranked foes.
