LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A school-record-tying four San Diego State softball players have been named to the all-NFCA West Region teams, the NFCA announced today. Sophomore Erica Romero (Corona, Calif.) was a first-team selection, senior Kayla Jordan (San Diego/Bonita Vista HS) and freshman Jenavee Peres (Garden Grove, Calif.) were second-team picks, and senior Lorena Bauer (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) was named to the third team.

SDSU's four all-west region selections equaled its total for the 2013 season as the most in program history.

Romero, who became the first San Diego State pitcher to earn first-team all-region honors since Samantha Beasley in 2010 and fourth in program history, is 34-15 overall with a 3.10 ERA over 291 1/3 innings on the year. A first-team all-MW selection, the right-hander leads the NCAA in innings pitched (291.1) and appearances (52), and is tied for first in victories (34). Romero has also set Aztec single-season records in wins (34) and games started (43), and is second in innings pitched (291.1) and appearances (52). Additionally, she has SDSU's last 34 pitching decisions (San Diego State is 24-10 in those games).

Jordan joined Romero as a first-time all-region pick by making the second team, batting .418 (74-for-177) with nine homers, 32 RBIs, 61 runs (one off tying the single-season record) and 19 stolen bases, while recording a .684 slugging percentage and a .495 on-base percentage. A first-team all-MW pick this year after earning the league's freshmen-of-the-year award en route to all-league accolades in 2012, Jordan leads the Aztecs in eight offensive categories, and also with 24 multi-hit games and 19 multi-run contests. She has started all 54 games this year and a team-high 97 straight, dating back to last season.

Like Jordan, Peres made second-team all-region after being named the MW Freshman of the Year and an all-league first-team pick on Tuesday. Peres, who is just the second SDSU catcher to earn first-team accolades in program history and the second catcher overall since 2006 (also Erin Floros), is hitting .366 (56-for-153) with eight home runs, 47 RBIs, 28 runs and 11 doubles, recording a .595 slugging percentage and a .429 on-base mark. A member of the USA Softball Junior Women's National Team, Peres has thrown out 14 of the attempted 28 base stealers (50.0 pct.).

Bauer, meanwhile, is a third-team selection this year after earning first-team honors as a junior in 2013, is hitting .420 (68-for-162) with 18 homers and a single-season record 63 RBIs (previous best was 49), to go along with 39 runs, 13 doubles, 23 walks, a .846 slugging percentage and a .495 on-base percentage. Bauer, who leads the league in slugging percentage, home runs and total bases, ranks 22nd in the country in RBIs, tied for 25th in home runs and 26th in slugging percentage. She was named the MW Player of the Year on Tuesday.

SDSU (36-18) will be playing Texas (37-15) in its eighth straight NCAA tournament at 3 p.m. PT Friday in Los Angeles on the campus of No. 7/8 UCLA (45-10), the tournament's No. 7 overall seed. CSUN (41-15) is the other team in the double-elimination regional. The entire NCAA Los Angeles Regional will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
