SAN DIEGO - San Diego State offensive lineman Terry Poole was selected with the 130th overall selection (31st pick of the fourth round) in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. This marks the second consecutive season that the Seahawks, a franchise that has played in each of the last two Super Bowls, has selected an Aztec after taking Eric Pinkins in 2014. In addition to Pinkins, linebacker Heath Farwell is also a current member of the AFC champions.
This is the fifth consecutive season that a San Diego State players has been selected in the NFL Draft.
Poole played two seasons at San Diego State, starting all 25 games he appeared in. A native of Seaside, Calif., Poole started 12 games as a junior at right tackle, earning honorable mention all-Mountain West Conference accolades, before making all 13 starts as a senior at left tackle and being named a member of the all-MW second team. A team captain his senior season, he was named the team's Offensive Lineman of the Year.
Poole was instrumental in San Diego State's high-powered rushing attack. In his two seasons on the Mesa, San Diego State averaged 191.3 yards per game, with a 4.8 yard rushing average and 56 touchdowns. The Aztecs posted a 15-11 record in his two season in which he played, advancing to the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in 2013 and the SDCCU Poinsettia Bowl in 2014.
After attending Seaside High (Seaside, Calif.), Poole attended Monterey Peninsula College in 2010 and 2011. He redshirted at SDSU in 2012 before becoming a staple on the Aztec offensive line the past two years.
Counting today, San Diego State has had 12 players selected in the NFL Draft since 2011.
