FRESNO, Calif. - San Diego State broke out of its recent offensive doldrums putting up multiple runs in four different innings en route to a 15-3 victory over Fresno State Saturday evening at Beiden Field in Fresno. With the victory the Aztecs improved to 28-16 overall and 15-8 in the Mountain West.

The Aztecs opened the contest with three runs in the top of the first courtesy of RBI singles from Ty France and Andrew Brown along with an RBI sacrifice bunt from Chase Calabuig.

SDSU upped its lead to 5-0 with two more in the next frame, those coming with the help of a Steven Pallares single and Fresno error plus another run-scoring single by France.

The Bulldogs (21-22, 11-9 MW) pulled a run back in the bottom of the second to get within four, but that would be as close as they would get the remainder of the night. Aztec junior right-hander Mark Seyler would limit the home side to just that lone run on three hits with a pair of walks and four strikeouts over his seven innings of work. He would get credit for the win to improve to 8-2 on the year.

San Diego State would add four more to its total in the top of the fifth inning with the first coming on a solo home run by France, his third of the season. The second run scored on Brody Westmoreland's single and an error by the Bulldogs left fielder with Calabuig's steal of home accounting for the third run of the frame. Alan Trejo's RBI single capped the scoring and made it a 9-1 ball game.

The Aztec closed out their scoring in the next frame as they scored six times to out the game beyond reach. After loading the bases with no outs, Seby Zavala was hit by pitch to bring home the first run. That was followed by a sacrifice fly by Brown for the second marker of the innings. After Calabuig walked to re-load the bases, freshman Brody Westmoreland launched a ball over the left center field fence for a grand slam to increase SDSU's lead to 15-1.

Every starter in the SDSU lineup scored at least once during the contest and eight of the nine recorded at least one hit. Fresno State used five pitchers on the night with the Aztecs tallying two runs or more against each of them.

Brown ended the evening with four hits, two RBI and a run scored while France had three hits including the home run with three RBI and three runs scored. In addition, Westmoreland had the grand slam along with a RBI single to account for five runs batted in during the game.

San Diego State and Fresno State will play the rubber game of their weekend series on Sunday, April 26) with a contest scheduled to get underway at 1:05 p.m.
