San Diego State fell into a first-place tie with San José State after second-round action was completed at the 2015 Mountain West Women's Golf Championship at Mission Hills Country Club's Dinah Shore Tournament Course. Both teams sit at 13-over par (589).

After shooting an even-par 288 on Monday, the Aztecs were unable to duplicate their performance in round two, firing a 13-over 301. The Spartans, meanwhile, pulled even with SDSU as a result of their 8-over-296 performance. Nevada is the next biggest threat in third place with a combined total of 595 (+19).

Mila Chaves held onto her first-place seat atop the leaderboard after shooting a 2-over 74. The freshman opened and closed the front nine with birdies, but bogeys at Nos. 3-4 sent her to the final nine at even-par. Chaves was cruising and picked up a birdie on the par-3 14th, but gave the stroke back after bogeying No. 16. She ended up rebounding nicely with her fourth birdie of the day, this time on No. 17, but a triple bogey on No. 18 sealed her day and her 2-over score.

Even with her 74, Chaves enters Wednesday's final round with a 4-under 140. She is three strokes in front of Manon Molle of New Mexico and Dana Finkelstein of UNLV, both of whom are at 1-under par (143). Nevada's Celyn Khoo (+1; 145), Colorado State's Allie Anderson (+2; 146) and SJSU's Regan De Guzman (+2; 146) round out the top five.

Just outside the aforementioned top five is Emma Henrikson, who shot San Diego State's low round of the day (E; 72). The junior carded birdies on Nos. 2, 5, 9 and 12, but four bogeys, including one on No. 14 put her even heading into the final four holes. Looking to finish on a strong note, Henrikson went par, par, par, par close out the day and she now finds herself in a tie for seventh place at 3-over (147).

Paige Spiranac is two shots behind Henrikson at 5-over-par (149) and in a tie for 10th place. The senior had trouble on the front nine as four bogeys wiped her birdie at No. 2 off the board. But on the back nine, she settled down, posting just a pair of bogeys and shooting even-par on the other seven holes to ultimately finish with a 77 (+5).

Sitting on the outskirts of the top 20 is Georgia Lacey, who will begin final-round action in a 21st-place tie (+9; 153). The freshman had birdies at Nos. 2 and 13, but bogeys doomed her as she was plus-3 on both the front and back nine to finish with a 78 (+6).

Sirene Blair, meanwhile, shot an 81 (+9), which was three strokes better than her first-round score. Overall, she moved up one spot to 43rd place and is 21-over (165) for the tournament.

The Aztecs will look to claim their first Mountain West championship tomorrow starting at 8:30 a.m. PT. San Diego State will be grouped with SJSU and Nevada. Live results will be available at GoAztecs.com.
