DAVIS, Calif. - The San Diego State women's lacrosse team put the brakes on a three-game losing skid Sunday with 12-9 triumph over UC Davis in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation matchup at Aggie Stadium.

The Aztecs made a 10-4 halftime lead stand up, improving to 9-6 on the season and 5-3 in conference play, while the Aggies slip to 3-12 overall and 2-5 in the MPSF.

Senior Christina Ricciardulli led SDSU with three goals and five ground balls, while fellow classmate Michaela Jarvis and junior Felice Artuso finished with three points as well after each contributed two scores and one assist. In addition, sophomore goalkeeper Katrina Reeves made seven saves, including five in the first half.

The Aztecs never trailed in the contest as senior Grace Korandovich put the visitors on the board with goal off an Artuso feed with nearly four minutes elapsed, while Ricciardulli followed with an unassisted tally just 26 seconds later.

UC Davis broke through with a pair of goals sandwiched around sophomore Kristen Hickey's strike at the 22:20 mark; however, SDSU maintained the upper hand thanks to a successful free position shot by junior Sophie Koubek with 18 minutes remaining in the period, while Ricciardulli followed with her second score almost five minutes later off an assist by junior Andrea Killebrew, which put the Scarlet and Black up 5-2.

The Aggies answered with the second of Courtney Neff's game-high four goals in the 21st minute before the Aztecs gave themselves some breathing room with 5-1 spurt to close the half. Aruso and junior Alexa Comfort dented the scoreboard two times apiece during the run as SDSU built a 10-4 bulge by intermission.

The two sides exchanged goals early in the second half as Ricciardulli completed the hat trick on another free position shot with seven minutes gone by, which restored the Aztecs' six-point lead at 11-5.

UC Davis made things interesting with four straight goals, including a strike by Ellie Delich with 13:59 remaining, which narrowed the gap to 11-9. However, SDSU held the host school without a shot for the remainder of the game, while Jarvis added some insurance with a goal at the 5:51 mark to give the contest its final outcome.

The two teams managed 16 shots on goal apiece, while the Aztecs held a slim 18-17 advantage in ground balls and a 12-10 edge in draw controls on a fairly even stat sheet.

San Diego State will have one final tune-up before the conference tournament when it plays host to USC on Saturday, April 25 at Aztec Lacrosse Field. Opening draw is set for 7 p.m. PT.
