The San Diego State women's tennis team commemorated Senior Day with a 7-0 sweep of visiting UC San Diego. The Tritons got behind early by dropping the doubles point and SDSU rolled through singles play to claim the win. With the victory the Aztecs finish the regular season at 13-10.
SDSU opened the day with a ceremony honoring the two seniors, Kristin Buth and Hailey Johnson. The Aztecs took to the courts and honored the seniors with their dominant play. Paola Diaz de Regules and Dora Somoracz blanked Nousha Nowamooz and Jasmine Hosseini on the third court, 6-0. Buth and Isabelle Hoorn clinched the point for San Diego State as they downed Kyra Scott and Britta Mosser in the top spot, 6-3. Johnson and Tami Nguyen completed the Aztec doubles sweep as they dismissed Nava Nowamooz and Shannon Theisen, 6-3.
In singles action, Diaz picked up her second win of the day as she defeated Nousha Nowamooz in the fifth spot, 6-1, 6-2. The sixth position was the next match off as Hoorn topped Theisen, 6-2, 6-1. On court No. 2, Nguyen downed Hosseini, 6-1, 6-0. In the fourth spot, Johnson defeated Nava Nowamooz, 6-1, 6-3. In the top position, Buth handled Scott, 6-1, 6-3. Court No. 3 would be the final match as Kennedy Davis defeated Mosser, 7-6 (1), 6-2.
Next up, San Diego State will travel to the Mountain West Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., which will be held April 22-26.
