SAN DIEGO, Calif. - San Diego State and the University of San Diego met up at the Aztec Aquaplex Friday afternoon for an informal long course meet swimming 14 events over distances in meters. The event capped a successful 2014-15 campaign for the Aztecs and saw SDSU athletes set three pool records in the process.
Neither team had its full complement of swimmers participating in the meet and no team scores were kept.
Aztec freshman Summer Harrison was the first SDSU swimmer to enter the record books as she set a new pool mark in the100 meter butterfly in 1:03.77.
Junior Shannon Herman also put her name on the record chart as she captured the 400 meter intermediate medley in 5:11.65.
The third Aquaplex record to fall was the 50 meter freestyle when junior Taylor Johnson swam a 26.75 to set the new pool standard.
San Diego State finished their 2014-15 campaign with a perfect 18-0 record in dual meets and captured its fourth Mountain West Championship in the last five seasons including one regular-season and three conference meet titles. A total of 16 swimmers and divers earned all-conference accolades this past season.
The Aztec sent seven swimmers to the 2015 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships with four of them receiving honorable mention All-America honors.
