TEMPE, Ariz. - San Diego State's Sirene Blair (South Jordan, Utah) fired a 2-under par 70 on Saturday to lead the Aztec women's golf team during the second round of the PING/ASU Invitational at Karsten Golf Course. Despite shaving nine strokes off its first-round score, SDSU remains in the 15th position with a 36-hole total of 17-over 593 after posting a 291 on the par-72, 6,223-yard layout.

Individually, Blair sank a team-high five birdies, including an impressive make at the par-4, 383-yard 15th, which ranked as the third-toughest hole of the day. Despite posting a double-bogey and bogey on the front nine, the Aztec sophomore still managed to vault 33 places on the leaderboard into a tie for 37th at 3-over 147 after carding her lowest score of the spring.

In addition, Emma Henrikson (Malmö, Sweden) drained four birdies of her own, including three straight conversions on holes 4-6 of her back nine. However, the SDSU junior was unable to overcome the sting of six bogeys, slipping one notch into a tie for 42nd at 4-over 148 after completing her second consecutive 74.

Elsewhere, Mila Chaves (Asuncion, Paraguay) sits one shot in back of Henrikson at 5-over 149 after leaping 18 spots into a tie for 52nd on the strength a second-round 72. The Aztec freshman recorded just one blemish on her scorecard Saturday, opening with a double-bogey on the par-5, 478-yard No. 10, before reeling off two birdies and 14 pars for her second-lowest round of the spring.

Sharing the 52nd position with Chaves is fellow classmate Georgia Lacey (Del Mar, Calif.), who dropped 11 places after firing a 75. The Torrey Pines High alumnus made an eagle-3 on her first hole at No. 10 and was in cruise control after logging 12 straight pars and a birdie. However, Lacey encountered difficulty on her final four holes, closing with three bogeys as well as a triple-bogey on the par-4, 372-yard No. 8, which sandbagged her momentum.

Meanwhile, Paige Spiranac (Scottsdale, Ariz.) was unable to gain ground from the 86th spot despite trimming four strokes off her score from the previous round. The SDSU senior was just 1-over for the day after offsetting three bogeys with a pair of birdies on the front nine. However, Spiranac was unable to overcome four additional bogeys and a double-bogey after the turn, ultimately settling for a 79 for a 36-hole total of 18-over 162.

The Aztec contingent also included freshman Haleigh Krause (Eugene, Ore.), an unattached golfer who finds herself tied for 80th at 10-over 154 after logging a second-round 76.

Arizona (-12) fired a blistering 276 on Saturday to grab an eight-shot lead over South Carolina (-4), while Texas (-2), Stanford (-1) and USC (E) round out the top five.

Monica Vaughn of host Arizona State (-6) and USC's Annie Park (-6) share the top spot individually, while 14 players remain within four shots of the leaders, including Jia Xin Yang and Katelyn Dambaugh of South Carolina, UNLV's Harley Dubsky and Bertine Strauss of Texas, who are all tied for third at 5-under.

The PING/ASU Invitational will be conclude on Sunday, with No. 22 San Diego State scheduled to tee off alongside Oklahoma and UNLV on the No. 10 hole, starting at 8:06 a.m. PDT.
